“Only two years ago computers were things that other people played with. I knew how useful computers were but I couldn’t see myself ever learning how to use them, so I
started enquiring about computer courses." Subsequently, her WEA course tutor helped her to navigate her way into the "computer world" at Church View, Blaenavon.
Tanya continues, "Now I am using computers for everyday purposes: exchanging the latest news with my family and friends in Russia, finding the teaching materials for my work, booking tickets and finding out all sorts of things on the Internet."
"Now I know how to find the Russian alphabet and write things in my own language." Tanya now uses the internet frequently Googling for her learning! "Some of my favourite websites are perfect for discovering things about my interests, which include travel, dance and houseplants."
As a result of new-found confidence, together with previous teaching experience gained in her native Russia, Tanya now teaches ESOL to Polish workers in Blaenavon.
