Having been an adult learner, you’ll probably know how hard it can be to take that first step into learning. That’s where you can help. Your experience of adult learning can help and encourage others to learn.

With support from the Big Lottery Fund, the WEA South Wales is running free Community Learning Representative courses in Rhondda Cynon Taff, Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen. The courses equip members of the community and community workers with the skills and knowledge to give advice and guidance on education and training. The role of a Community Learning Rep is voluntary but there is a qualification in advice and guidance at the end of the course plus extra training and support if needed.

Training covers:
Understanding learning - the benefits of learning, and the barriers that stop people taking advantage of the opportunities they have
Personal development - developing your own communication and listening skills
Knowledge of learning opportunities - information on various types of learning and support on offer in your local area.

If you are interested in joining a FREE WEA South Wales Community Learning Rep class, please speak to Bill Powell or Val Swain (details provided above).
